The cheapo paint roller extension broke in the middle of the roof recoating project today. Rather than run to the store 15 miles away to pick up another bad quality one, here’s what I did…
This is a Yucca plant or something that grows in the desert. It produces flowers that grow on a thick solid branch each year. The branch dries out each year and you can use the wood part for weird projects around the house.
Drill 2 wholes going through the plastic handle of the roller and through the branch.
Fasten the paint roller handle using appropriately sized screws, locking washers, washers, and nut.
Now you have a custom made redneck paint roller extension pole. Probably the coolest looking one on the street.
To make it look fancier, drill a hole on the far end of the branch. I inserted an old leather shoe lace to make it look fancier, but can also hang it on the wall in the garage for storage. I’ll probably stain the wood to make it look even more nifty when I have time (and protect the wood too).
As a bonus, this paint roller extension doesn’t loosen up like the screw on types from the hardware store.
Total Cost of Project: $0.00 (stuff was laying around the house)
Time to complete: 5 minutes if you have a branch already sanded. A little longer if you need to sand one down.
