Daily Portfolio Fluctations July 2018

This is a monthly post showing the daily fluctuations of roughly 95% of my portfolio. This is what I would consider my main investment accounts, the others are not worth the time to figure into the equation from a time perspective.

Looking at the month of June, we see that this portion of my portfolio increased overall $33,719.92 for the month, or a gain of $1605.71 per trading day. This marks 3 solid months of gains in a row. For the year, 4 months have been solid, 3 months not so much.

At the high point in the month, this portfolio was up as much as $34.038.28 on 7/27/2018. The low point was the on 7/3/2018 at$16.34. It was that kind of month. It started out with solid gains in week 1, and I never actually had a drop below my closing values of June. There was a maximum 2 day losing streak from 7/18 to 7/19 that totaled only -$4,833.99 and again 7/27 and 7/30 for -$8918.45 . Meanwhile, the best win streak for the month was a 3 day streaks from 7/24 to 7/26  totaling $15,419.39.

Worst losing day was on 7/30 for -$5,559.93. Single biggest gain day occurred on 7/5 at $8,855.85.

Number of days with a loss of greater than $10,000 sits at 0 day. Number of days with gains of greater than $10,000 was 0.

The range from the low point to the high point of the portfolio for the month was $34,021.94.

The absolute value column is to show the average daily fluctuation the portfolio is experience regardless of a gain or loss. This figure shows each trading day of the month, $3806.42 was the average absolute daily fluctuation I experienced (slightly more volatile than June).

This type of data is just to you how much an all stock portfolio can fluctuate on a daily basis. Compared to June, overall volatility for this portfolio was slightly higher. Average daily fluctuations were higher by about $300.

  1. Portfolio is up or down the dividends keep coming in. That’s what matters the most.

    • I’ll take a month like this anytime. over $30k in portfolio increasing and over $2k in dividends. Winner, winner, chicken dinner
